 Staffanstorp today
Staffanstorp's municipality lies in southwestern Scania on the plain
between Malmö and Lund. The municipality's situation with
extraordinarily good communications and short distances to Sturup- and
Kastrup airport and the ports at the south coast has meant that this
is a very popular place to live in.
The
municipality's population is approximately 20 500 persons 2005, of
which in Staffanstorp lives approximately 15 000 persons and in Hjärup
approximately 3000 persons. The municipality's surface is 108 km2.
The
landscape in the north is dominated of the flat plain of Lund which
turns over in the south to a billowing landscape. The municipality
lies on the best farmland in Sweden and a big part of the
municipality's area are occupied of cultivated land. Elements of arrow
embankments, bronze age mounds and leafy villages give the
municipality its characteristic nature of Scania.
In
historical context will be remembered that Scania up to year 1658 was
a rich Danish province.
The
majority companies in the municipality are small companies and has
often their activity in or in connection with the home. The
municipality it self is the biggest employer with approximately 1.100
employees. Many companies in the municipality have a concentration to
the sector “home, garden & spare time”.
The commuting out from the municipality is big. About 7.000
inhabitants works in other municipalities, mainly in Lund and Malmö.
About 2.000 persons that live in other municipalities have their
workplace in the municipality of Staffanstorp.

Staffanstorps kommun ligger i sydvästra
Skåne på slätten mellan Malmö och Lund. Kommunens läge med
utomordentligt goda kommunikationer och korta avstånd till Sturups och
Kastrups flygplatser och hamnarna vid sydkusten har medfört att detta
är en eftertraktad bostadsplats.
Staffanstorps
kommuns befolkning är ca 20 500 personer 2005, varav i Staffanstorp ca
15 000 personer och i Hjärup ca 3000 personer. Kommunens yta är 108

Landskapet i norr
domineras av den flacka Lundaslätten som i söder övergår till ett
böljande backlandskap. Kommunen ligger på Sveriges bästa jordbruksmark
och en stor del av kommunens areal upptas av odlad mark. Inslag av
pilevallar, bronsåldershögar och lummiga byar ger kommunen dess
skånska karaktär.
I historiskt
sammanhang skall kommas ihåg att Skåne ända till 1658 var en rik dansk
provins.
Flertalet företag i
kommunen är en- eller fåmansföretag och har ofta sin verksamhet i
eller i anslutning till hemmet. Kommunen är den största arbetsgivaren
med cirka 1.100 anställda. Många företag i kommunen har en inriktning
mot hem-trädgård-fritid.
Utpendlingen från
kommunen är stor. Omkring 7.000 kommuninvånare arbetar i andra
kommuner, främst i Lund och Malmö. Drygt 2.000 personer som bor i
andra kommuner har sin arbetsplats i Staffanstorps kommun.
