Wolin
The municipality of Wolin is situated in the north-west part of
Voivodeship in Poland. It covers 327 km2. It borders on the Baltic Sea
in the north and the Bay of Szczecin in the south. In the central part
of the island Wolin there is a national park. The whole area is
characterised by mild maritime climate, lakes and big forests.
The
municipality is characterised by natural values in the form of
resources which give possibilities to economic progress, for example:
arable lands (50%), forests (22%), natural resources (mineral ores,
peat, hot springs), good climate, a diverse landscape, the part of
Wolin National Park, monuments of nature, protected animals and
archaeological grounds.
The
municipality of Wolin has about 13 000 inhabitants (in the town about
5 000 inhabitants (40 %) and in the country 8 000 inhabitants (60%).
There is an annual famous Viking Festival, normally in August.
